We’re back in Denver for a few weeks and missing the beautiful Ft Lauderdale sunsets. This pretty cocktail is a take on a martini we had sitting by the water, one warm Florida evening… It was magical. I’m not a fanatic about many things and I really try to be flexible in my habits, choices, likes, etc., but warm evenings and sunsets pair perfectly with martini’s as a rule of thumb. This cocktail will forever transport me back to Fort Lauderdale, no matter where I’m at physically in the world!
Fresh pitted fresh Bing cherries with goat cheese and slivered toasted almonds is a great appetizer to serve with this cocktail. When I make this, I twist the orange peel over the drink so the citrus oil spritzes onto the surface and run it around the rim.
1.5 oz vodka
.75 oz Aperol (bitter orange Italian aperitif)
.5 oz St Germain
1 oz orange juice
Orange twist for garnish
Add the vodka, Aperol and St-Germain, and orange juice to an ice-filled shaker. Shake until chilled. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with the orange twist
